My Story

Please take a couple of minutes to read my message and if you can spare anything to support my challenge I would be very grateful.

My mum passed away a couple of years ago when her heart simply gave up. It was a sudden loss and came as a great shock. She was an exceptional lady that raised myself and my three siblings superbly (in my opinion!!) and enabled us to succeed in life and create our own paths. I think we all take our parents for granted when they are there for us and to lose one suddenly really hit that home for me.

I wanted to do something to channel my sadness and to challenge myself to achieve something that would help me raise money for charity in my mums honour.

To that end I started running about 18 months ago and, after turning 50 in December 2019, decided to enter the London Marathon. When I started running I had never done over 5km and although I have now completed a few half marathons completing a full marathon will be a huge challenge for me.

So I've decided to raise money for Kids Out and I'd be so grateful for your support.

KidsOut provides positive opportunities and experiences to enhance the wellbeing and outlook of disadvantaged children, with a special focus on those fleeing to refuge from domestic violence. Established in 1999, KidsOut delivers services nationally to over 50,000 children a year, mainly through the provision of fun days out and Toy Boxes for children being rehomed after refuge.

My aim is to raise as much money as possible for them to enable as many children as possible to experience just some of the experiences that my Mum provided me with.
